The Meadows Suite isn't just a room; it's an experience—a harmonious blend of history, luxury, and Southern hospitality that invites you to relax, rejuvenate, and relish the beauty of Magnolia Manor.

The Meadows Suite is named in honor of the Meadows family, who lovingly called Magnolia Manor home from the late 1880s until the Great Depression. Several generations lived within these walls, with John Alexander Meadows and his wife Jane Keziah leading significant renovations in 1890. Their enhancements—including the distinctive mansard roof, ornate corbels, elegant bay windows, and the addition of the grand dining room with pocket doors and intricate hardware—brought timeless beauty and charm that still grace the home today. The Meadows family were also respected business owners in the New Bern community, operating a local grist mill that served as a vital resource for the area.

The Wade Suite

The Wade Suite

Bathed in the golden glow of southern sunlight, the Wade Suite welcomes you with timeless elegance and rich charm. Walls dressed in a deep, soulful blue set the tone for romance and relaxation, perfectly complemented by the warm, honeyed hues of original heart pine floors that have graced this manor since 1843.

Gaze out of the grand sash windows for a bird’s-eye view of downtown’s quiet charm and fleeting glimpses of the river glistening in the distance. Two plush accent chairs invite you to linger a while—sip your coffee, read a letter, or simply soak in the Manor’s peaceful magic.

The bed, dressed in luxurious linens, promises sweet Southern dreams, while the private bath—dating back to 1890—offers a true indulgence: an original clawfoot soaking tub ready to melt your cares away. With thick, fluffy towels and fine soaps and shampoos provided, every detail has been thoughtfully prepared for your comfort and delight.

The Wade Suite is more than a room—it’s an experience. A quiet haven where history and hospitality meet, and every moment feels like a love letter to the South.

The Wade Suite is named in honor of Amos Wade, the original builder of Magnolia Manor in 1843. A prominent businessman of his time, Wade played a significant role in New Bern’s early economy through his work in the turpentine and lumber industries. His operations were based just across the street from the manor—on the very grounds where the New Bern Convention Center stands today. This suite pays tribute to his legacy and the enduring craftsmanship he brought to the home.

The Harper Suite

The Harper Suite

Tucked on the upper floor of Magnolia Manor, the Harper Suite offers a serene retreat bathed in natural light. This charming room features two twin beds adorned with the same luxurious linens found throughout the manor, ensuring a restful night's sleep.

The suite's creamy walls and white trim are complemented by soft hues of blues and greens, creating a tranquil, sun room-like ambiance. Original heart pine floors from 1843 add a touch of historic elegance, while large windows provide the best view of Downtown New Bern, allowing guests to soak in the vibrant surroundings.

Though the Harper Suite does not have a private bathroom, guests have convenient access to shared facilities nearby. This suite is an excellent choice for accommodating additional members of the bridal party, children, or friends, offering both comfort and charm.

Whether you're preparing for a special event or simply seeking a peaceful space to relax, the Vista Suite provides a delightful blend of Southern hospitality and timeless beauty.

Mr. Vance Harper Jones lovingly cared for Magnolia Manor from the late 1970s until our purchase in 2024. A gifted organist at a local church, a dedicated librarian at the area college, and a true lover of antiques, Vance brought both passion and preservation to the home. During his time here, he added more ornate cresting to the roof line and thoughtfully carried the style of the original porch ceilings into the rear rooms—now known as Boyd Hall. His eye for detail and deep appreciation for history helped preserve the character of the manor for future generations.
