Frequently Asked Questions

Planning your wedding should feel exciting—not overwhelming. We’ve gathered answers to some of the questions our couples ask most often to help you understand what to expect when celebrating at Magnolia Manor 1843. From reserving your date and payment options to vendors, insurance, and event-day details, we hope this makes the planning process a little easier.

What deposit is required to reserve our date?

A one-third non-refundable initial payment is required to officially reserve your date. Once received, that date is secured exclusively for your celebration and removed from our availability.

Can we make payments toward our venue balance?

Absolutely. After your initial one-third payment, we can create a payment schedule that works with your needs. Payments may be scheduled as frequently as you prefer, with the final balance due 60 days prior to your event date.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Outside alcohol is not permitted at Magnolia Manor 1843. For your convenience, we offer in-house bar service, which may be incorporated into your payment plan. We can also recommend professional mobile bartending services that meet our insurance requirements and can help create a bar package appropriate for your celebration.

Do you have a preferred vendor list?

We do not currently require couples to choose from a preferred vendor list. Instead, we are happy to provide a recommended vendor list featuring professionals we have had positive experiences working with. Many of these vendors already have required insurance and documentation on file with us, helping simplify one more piece of your planning process. You are also welcome to select other professional vendors with venue approval.

Are our vendors required to carry insurance?

Yes. Professional vendors working on the property are required to provide appropriate proof of liability insurance. This requirement provides an additional layer of protection for you, your guests, and the venue should an incident occur related to a vendor’s services or equipment. Your planner, caterer, DJ, bartender, photographer, and other applicable professionals can provide the required documentation directly to the venue.

Do we need event-day insurance?

Yes. Event insurance is required for weddings at Magnolia Manor 1843 and provides an additional layer of protection for you and your investment. We can provide links to make purchasing coverage simple, and policies are typically a relatively small expense compared with the overall investment in your wedding.

Couples may purchase the required liability coverage and may also choose to add event cancellation or postponement coverage through the insurance provider of their choice. Your wedding is a significant investment, and we believe it deserves to be protected.

Are we required to have a wedding planner or day-of coordinator?

Yes. At minimum, Magnolia Manor 1843 requires a professional day-of coordinator for weddings. We strongly encourage full-service or partial planning for couples who would like additional support throughout the planning process.

Your planner works directly with the venue and your vendors to coordinate the many details leading up to your celebration, while a day-of coordinator focuses primarily on executing your established plans and timeline on the wedding day. This includes arrivals, vendor coordination, ceremony lineup, transitions, timeline management, and keeping the day moving smoothly—allowing you and your guests to simply enjoy the celebration.

Planning and coordination services are not currently included in our venue packages. If a professional day-of coordinator has not been secured by the required deadline, Magnolia Manor 1843 will arrange appropriate event-day coordination at an additional fee.

What time must music end?

In accordance with local requirements for our downtown New Bern location, amplified music must conclude by 10:00 p.m.
